Duluoz has grown up in the sleepy Massachusetts town of Lowell, but his incredible football talents take him on a scholarship to Columbia University, New York. World War II intervenes and Duluoz serves on the high seas, to come back to New York and the beginnings of the underground beat movement. For Duluoz this is the wild time with writing, drugs and sex exploding into a sheer celebration of non-stop living on the edge of experiences that will eventually include even murder.
